33,139 female runners at the Austrian Women’s Run
The 28th Austrian Women's Run took place on Sunday, 31 May 2015 in the Vienna Prater. Women from all over the world and of all ages participated in running together. Whether a top international athlete or beginner, every participant demonstrated her very own personal best performance.
Jessica O’Connell (CAN) takes the victory in a running time of 15:32,8 min at the 5k elite-competition, followed by the runner-up Viola Jelagat (KEN) with a time of 15:40,4 min. The sensational 3rd place was taken by Jennifer Wenth (AUT) in 15:45,5 min. Last year’s winner Ana Dulce Félix from Portugal finished in 4th place with a time of 15:50,5 min.
National athletes strongly represented
Jennifer Wenth, Austrian’s 10.000m national champion of 2015, used the strong international elite-competition: “The elite-field was close together- that was really great and helped to keep up the pace."
A total of 22 national elite-athletes stood at the starting line of the Austrian Women’s Run today. The second fastest Austrian was Sara Skardelly in 17:19,0 min and therefore on place 9, followed by Victoria Schenk who finished in 10th place with 17:20,7 min.
33.139 Starters from 90 nations – a further record!
A participant’s record was set once more. With 33.139 women and girls from 90 nations the Austrian Women’s Run is one of the top 3 women’s runs worldwide. In line with this year’s theme Run the City the entire city and especially the Vienna Prater was filled by the participants and thousands of spectators and enthusiastic fans.
The largest award ceremony in Austria took place after the race on the festival grounds of the Austrian Women’s Run in the Vienna Prater. The race day came to an atmospheric end with the Women’s Run-Party, entertainment program and more.
