29th Austrian Women's Run
33.000 starters at this year’s 29th Austrian Women’s Run® 2016
With a participant count of 33,000 women and girls, national and international, the Austrian Women’s Run belongs to the leading women’s runs worldwide. In total 99 nations were represented at the start in today’s warm weather. With a fantastic atmosphere at the start, on the entire stretch as well as in the finish area, each single runner showed her personal best. It is especially nice that runners of all ages share the joy of running. 80 years was the difference today between the youngest participant (6 years old) and the oldest contestant (86 years old).
5k Elite Competition
In a sensational race Sara Moreira (POR) runs with a time of 15:37,1 minutes to the 1st place in the 5K elite competition. Eloise Wellings, the Australian long-distance runner that will also be competing at the Olympic games reached the second place in 15:51,1 minutes. A brilliant 3rd place went to Jennifer Wenth (AUT) with a time of 16:01,5 minutes in the top field. Consequently her resolution to win a place on the pedestal was achieved, as in the previous year.
10k Competition
Also the 10k competition was highly interesting. First runner was Petra Pircher (ITA) in a time of 37:41,4 min, followed by Bianca Starha (AUT) in a time of 38:56,7 min and Romana Komarnanska (SVK) - 39:07,1 Min.
5k Nordic Walking
3.000 participants took part in the 5k Nordic Walking competition this year.
